BEN NEVIS 11 ans 2012 American Wine Cask Single Cask Foundations

$380.00

Founded in 1825 by “Long” John McDonald, the Ben Nevis distillery was acquired in 1941 by Joseph Hobbs, who installed a column still in 1955 to produce grain whisky in addition to single malt.

Closed from 1978 to 1984, it has been owned by the Japanese group Nikka Whisky since 1989, which reopened it in 1990.

Following the magnificent single cask #2137 New Vibrations, we invite you to discover this equally remarkable sister cask.

A bit less extroverted but with incredible finesse, its aromatic and flavor profile proudly showcases the colors of this iconic single malt.

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Golden yellow.

Nose : Ample, deep. Wonderfully oxidative (wine vinegar), exotic (roasted pineapple), and vegetal (zucchini flower, pumpkin), the aromatic palette shines with originality. With aeration, scents of radish, candied ginger, and cardamom add a touch of class. Magnificent.

Palate : Both sleek and substantial. Initially marked by flavors of ripe banana with rare eloquence, the palate then becomes lemony and milky (coconut, almond). Gradually, menthol flavors refresh the palate perfectly.

Finish : Long, silky. With notes of bloom, ripe banana, and baked apple, the flavor profile has an extremely delicate touch. This fluffy sensation reaches its peak in the aftertaste, highlighting a tender chocolatey and licorice character.
