ARMORIK 2011 Version Française

Warenghem was the first French distillery to venture into whisky in 1983. In 1998, it once again led the way by offering the first French single malt under the Armorik brand.

Since then, the distillery has refined its whisky production expertise. From 2010 to 2012, all stages of whisky production were reviewed and improved.

It now offers a Breton whisky true to the geographical indication of the same name. The cask selected for the French Version fully reflects its terroir: it is a single malt aged in a barrel that previously contained chouchen, the famous “honey wine” typical of the region.

Bottled at 50%, Armorik 2011 is a single malt of great generosity, structured by an impeccable distillate.

Tasting Notes

: Golden yellow.

Nose : Warm, the nose presents clear honey notes, accompanied by a beautiful minerality (sandstone). Aromas of caramelized fruits, baked apples, and poached pears enrich the olfactory palette. Pastry and buttery scents also appear, reminiscent of kouign-amann (a famous Breton pastry). Upon aeration, the whisky reveals lovely floral notes (mimosa).

Palate : Rich and oily, the palate stands out with a clear and mineral attack, quickly tempered by honey confectionery flavors. Resolutely pastry-like, the palate is like a tarte tatin sprinkled with mild spices (cinnamon, vanilla). Mid-palate, candied citrus fruits mingle with aromas of frangipane and Breton palet (butter). Notes of blond tobacco and toasted wood add an extra dimension to the palate.

Finish : The honey wine coats the palate for long minutes. The apple turns into prune, and then the spices lead us to a beautifully long finish. After a few minutes, only the chouchen lingers.

Profile : Gourmet, generous.
