Founded in 1879 in the heart of Speyside, Aberlour has long been admired for producing rich, fruit-forward single malts with exceptional balance and depth. Historically labelled as Aberlour Glenlivet, the distillery was among several Speyside producers that adopted the “Glenlivet” suffix during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to reflect the region’s reputation for quality. Today, these early official bottlings are highly collectible, offering a rare glimpse into the character of Scotch whisky from a different era.
Distilled in 1965 and matured for 8 years, this official bottling is a remarkable piece of whisky history. Produced during a period when official distillery releases were far less common than today, it captures the classic Speyside style that established Aberlour’s reputation. Increasingly scarce on the secondary market, this vintage bottling appeals to collectors and enthusiasts seeking an authentic example of a historic official release from one of Scotland’s most respected distilleries.
