Founded in 1898, the year of the Pattison brothers scandal which ended one of the most euphoric periods in Scottish whisky history, Caperdonich only began producing its whisky in the mid-1960s, after becoming owned by Chivas Brothers.

Its founder, who also owned the Glen Grant distillery, originally named it Glen Grant #2, a name it kept until 1965. A significant component in the Chivas Regal blend, Caperdonich has, to this day, never been the subject of a specific official bottling.
