Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, Buffalo Trace is the most awarded distillery in the world and is among the oldest distilleries in the United States. Originally known as “Old Fire Copper,” it was renamed George T. Stagg in 1900. It was one of the four distilleries in the United States authorized to produce whiskey for medicinal purposes during Prohibition. Renamed Buffalo Trace since 1999, it has been named Distillery of the Year 8 times since 2000 and Distiller of the Year 3 times. A specialist in aging, the distillery has more than 25,000 experimental barrels that allow it to study different types of aging.
