Description
Tasting Notes
Colour:Â Old gold with coppery highlights
Nose:Â Delicate and complex. Magnificent aromas of lemon, rancio (fresh orange), apricot and malt gradually shift toward vanilla, buttery tones and caramelised toffee. With aeration, the profile becomes spicer (ginger, nutmeg) and gently herbaceous (pipe tobacco)
Palate: Lively and elegant. Honeyed notes (linden) mingle with juicy apple and pear, followed by candied lemon and noble spices such as cardamom. As it opens, the whisky becomes increasingly indulgent, evoking Calisson d’Aix (a soft Provençal confection made from almonds and candied fruit) and BĂªtises de Cambrai (traditional mint-caramel sweets from Northern France). Subtly liquorice-like and lightly oily, the palate expands into resinous pine and roasted coffee undertones
Finish:Â Elegant and full-bodied. A natural return to malted barley is joined by earthy touches of gentian and bright grated ginger. The citrus notes of the nose reappear before yielding to chocolatey and toasted rusk tones. Both shadowy and luminous, the reto-nasal impression evokes the warmth and colour of early autumn
