PALENQUEROS Coyote Valente García
$162.00
Created by Luca Gargano, the Palenqueros project brings together six palenqueros, master distillers from the state of Oaxaca. This artisanal agave distillate, made from the maguey coyote variety, comes from Santa Maria La Pila, Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Oaxaca, and is produced by the sons and grandsons of Valente García, a fourth-generation palenquero.
A great distiller, Valente brought back Adrián, Raúl, and his grandson Semeí, who had emigrated to the United States and gained years of experience at Alipús. Following his recent passing, they took over the family operation and continue his legacy, cultivating a wide variety of agaves using natural methods and producing a high-quality spirit.
This Pure Single Palenque is a joven, more commonly known as blanco: colorless and bottled straight from the still at 47% ABV without dilution.
The Palenqueros project emphasizes the quality and history of an artisanal spirit with deep-rooted traditions in the local culture. When creating this collection of agave distillates, the approach went beyond villages and agave varieties—it was about honoring the palenqueros, the master distillers. Their names are prominently displayed on the labels, and their portraits appear on each bottle, showcasing their craftsmanship.
Each product is made by producers who use only wild agaves, grown without pesticides and manually crushed. These Pure Single Palenque mezcals are bottled at still strength, preserving the authenticity of their taste profile. These limited editions highlight the rich heritage of Oaxaca through the expertise of six of its most renowned artisanal palenqueros.
