Tasting Notes
Nose : Powerful, rich. Notes of rubber—more precisely, hot tires—are in the fast lane. Sherry is also present (hazelnut, butter, walnut). In the background, the vibrant, youthful distillate of Ballechin reveals lush floral notes, beeswax, and camphor. Highly concentrated, it requires time to open up, then sunflower seeds and dark chocolate emerge freely.
Palate : Equally unique. Citrus zests (lime) and nutty notes (cashew, peanut) coat the palate. Smoke and peat have drawn much closer to the malted barley. It then develops licorice (zan), vanilla, and evokes a white spirit (kirsch, raspberry).
Finish : Slightly salty, resting on elegant bitter notes. Green walnut, gentian, and ginger form a lively and refreshing trio. Intensely floral (carnation, hyacinth) and malty (malt blossom), it makes us appreciate the long journey taken. Impressive!
