Nardini was established in 1779. It still uses the same fermentation process and steam distillation to produce its grappas and liqueurs, as well as this Elixir made from cinchona bark. A pure moment of contemplative pleasure, the palate’s remarkable spicy, powdery bitterness unfolds in tones of an almost mystical quality. So much so that, for a few seconds, time seems to stand still. The initial nose wavers between cut hay and dried fruit (fig, date) and exotic fruit (banana). Then spices come gradually to the forefront. The palate is immediately filled with a wonderful bitterness. Ginger, citrus zest and cocoa powder give their utmost to vamp up the flavours.
