Description
Tasting Notes
Nose : Rich, heady. Packed with esters (tar, pipe tobacco, burnt chocolate, rubber), the first nose is also exotic (flambéed banana), floral (iris, lily), and vanilla-scented. Upon aeration, it evokes the scent of macerating fruits like fermenting mirabelles. Over time, medicinal and camphor-like notes emerge with aromas of Velpeau bandages and Marmot balm, highlighting the medicinal evolution of the aromatic palette.
Palate : Firm, powerful. Resuming the macerated fruit aromas (pineapple, banana), the attack on the palate instantly transports us to the fermentation room of the Hampden distillery. Incredibly long, it boldly extends into the mid-palate, revealing lovely vanilla and vegetal (sugarcane) nuances over time. In the back-palate, cocoa powder and curry gently settle on the tongue.
Finish : Long, concentrated. The start of the finish, in an impressively authoritative manner, unfolds notes of hydrocarbons with remarkable persistence. Lovers of strong and earthy Havanas will appreciate a pairing that begs to be made. The very end of the palate is empyreumatic (thuja, eucalyptus). On the retro-olfaction, notes of petrol and diesel fuel continue their assault. Hints of agave, artichoke, and roasted pineapple. The empty glass, slightly varnished, allows us to inhale the scent of a freshly lit cigar.
