Kavalan 15 Year Old marks a significant milestone for Taiwan’s pioneering whisky distillery. This inaugural age-statement release is a carefully composed vatting of single malts matured in ex-bourbon barrels, oloroso sherry casks, ruby port barrels and puncheons, bringing together multiple maturation styles into a harmonious whole. Bottled to showcase depth and balance, it reveals a robust, richly layered profile shaped by Taiwan’s subtropical climate, where accelerated interaction between spirit and wood enhances complexity. Founded in 2005 by the King Car Group, Kavalan Distillery takes its name from an indigenous tribe once inhabiting Taiwan’s north-eastern region. From the outset, Kavalan set out to craft world-class single malt whisky, enlisting the expertise of the late Dr. Jim Swan, whose influence was pivotal in shaping its maturation strategy. First distilled in March 2006, Kavalan released its inaugural whisky in 2008 and quickly gained international recognition through award-winning single cask bottlings. Today, Kavalan stands as a global reference for New World whisky, renowned for its bold flavours, precise cask selection and expressive tropical character.
