“Second Murderer” is a Jura single malt bottled by Elixir Distillers as part of Act Two of the Macbeth series, a collection of forty-two whiskies inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy. One of four island whiskies in The Murderers series, this expression was matured in Oloroso sherry hogsheads, allowing Jura’s increasingly peated spirit to develop both intensity and nuance. The linear, sharp peat smoke is softened and framed by sherry cask influence, bringing notes of sandalwood, herbs and a subtle bitterness reminiscent of amaro, while preserving the oily texture that defines the distillate. The result is a richly smoky yet composed island whisky with depth, structure and dramatic presence.
