This 13-year-old Edradour is a rare first-fill Sauternes cask maturation, bottled at its natural strength of 48.2%. The influence of the French sweet wine casks adds a rich, honeyed opulence to the distillery’s naturally weighty, old-style Highland spirit. Expect layers of marmalade, vanilla cream and toasted hazelnut, all wrapped in Edradour’s signature dense, almost rustic texture. A full-term Sauternes maturation of this age is uncommon and brings remarkable depth, balancing sweetness with a gentle mineral backbone. This is Edradour in its most indulgent, dessert-like form.

Founded in 1825 under the name Glenforres before being renamed Edradour in 1837, the distillery has long been celebrated for its uniquely small-scale, traditional production. Often described as “Scotland’s little gem,” it is one of the smallest distilleries in the Highlands and is famed for its distinctive, characterful single malts exported around the world.

A major turning point came in 2002, when Andrew Symington — founder of the Signatory Vintage independent bottling house — acquired the distillery and began an era of innovation. Through an ambitious cask-finishing programme (Burgundy, Tokaji, Moscatel, Madeira, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and more), he transformed Edradour’s image and brought it to the attention of whisky enthusiasts globally.

Since 2018, Edradour’s spirit has been produced in a new, exact replica distillery built adjacent to the historic site. It retains every traditional detail — from the Morton mash cooler (the only one still used in Scotland) to eight Oregon pine washbacks and the original-sized stills (4,200 L wash still and 2,200 L spirit still). The result: a distillery that preserves its heritage while securing consistent production for the future.
