This Craigellachie 10 Year Old (2014 vintage) is a bold Speyside single malt matured exclusively in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at a powerful 57.1% ABV. The choice of active sherry wood amplifies Craigellachie’s naturally muscular spirit, delivering a rich and uncompromising profile of chocolate, coconut and nougat, supported by roasted and savoury undertones. True to the distillery’s character, this is a whisky of structure and persistence—textural, expressive and unapologetically robust.
Founded in 1891 by the formidable Peter Mackie, Craigellachie occupies a singular place in Speyside’s history. Mackie—one of the industry’s legendary “Big Five” whisky barons and the driving force behind the White Horse blend—was also nephew and heir to James Logan Mackie, proprietor of Lagavulin. Today owned by John Dewar & Sons (Bacardi) since 1998, Craigellachie remains a cult distillery, prized for its old-school production methods, including worm-tub condensers, which give its spirit a weighty, sulphur-tinged backbone. Long favoured by blenders, its single malts are increasingly recognised for their distinctive, full-bodied style.
