COGNAC MAUXION 70’s Decade Fins Bois THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE 7.0

$680.00

Amaury Mauxion, representing the thirteenth generation at the helm of this esteemed cognac house, continues a legacy that began in 1743.

Created from a blend of vintages from 1970 to 1979, this expression from the limestone terroir of Fins Bois is made exclusively from ugni blanc grapes.

Throughout the tasting, it reveals fragrances and flavors of fine woods and beeswax, and its remarkably harmonious and mature profile poetically evokes the heady atmosphere of a cabinetmaker’s workshop. WhiskyFun Score: 89 points

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Old gold

Nose : Smooth, complex. Wrapped in a delicate layer of beeswax, the aromatic profile is initially heady (iris concrete) and exotic (mango, banana). Then, hints of tiger balm and orange zest lend it great vibrancy.

Palate : Clear, lively. Much like the initial nose, the flavor profile is marked by notes of beeswax polish (varnish, wood paste). Creamy (rice pudding), it becomes progressively juicier (grape) and delightfully herbaceous (vine flower).

Finish : Long, velvety. A true caress for the palate, its mouthfeel is both powdery (ginger, cinnamon) and exotic (pineapple). Resinous, the tasting continues with notes of undergrowth (moss, mushrooms), citrus (kumquat, lemon), and walnut husk.
Profile: Smooth and complex.
