COGNAC LMDW 1991 by Frapin

$175.00

Belonging to the Frapin family, the Château de Fontpinot is located in the “golden triangle” of Cognac, right in the heart of Grande Champagne.

The high-quality wines produced here are distilled on their lees to retain maximum substance, using small copper stills.

A quarter of the distilled eaux-de-vie is aged in new Limousin oak casks. Stunningly crafted, this 1991 vintage represents the quintessence of Cognac.

Description

Tasting Notes

Nose
: Refined and elegant. Vibrant, it exudes tension and minerality (limestone, marl, dry earth). Spicy (pepper), fruity (plum), and floral (tuberose, azalea), it evolves into a delectable mix of dark chocolate and ginger. Despite its heady character, every note is remarkably fresh.

Palate : Lively and distinguished. Very close to the grape, it unfolds naturally with floral notes (cornflower, violet) and balsamic hints (pine, cedar). Medicinal (camphor-like), it continuously gains in concentration. Dry fruits (toasted almond, walnut), apricot coulis, gentian root, and freshly cut hay come to the fore as the grapes become dehydrated.

Finish : Long and subtle. The noble spices (cardamom, saffron, fresh coriander) offer pure pleasure. Citrus notes (orange, mandarin), green licorice, emery cloth, aromatic herbs (mint, sage), along with prune and damson plum notes, add to its complexity. The empty glass reveals chocolate and spice (cinnamon).
