Founded in 1779 on the shores of Loch Indaal, Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay and one of Scotland’s most historic producers. Its legendary No.1 Vaults maturation warehouse, located below sea level, plays a key role in shaping Bowmore’s signature style. Combined with partially floor-malted barley and traditional production methods, the distillery creates a balanced profile of gentle peat smoke, maritime character and elegant fruit.
This Bowmore 16 Year Old 1999 was bottled by Douglas Laing as part of the Old Particular range to celebrate the famous Feis Ile – Islay’s Festival of Malt and Music. Matured for 16 years and released as a limited edition, it captures the classic Bowmore style: coastal freshness, sweet barley and elegant smoke, layered with citrus, cocoa and savoury complexity.
