This annual Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve is crafted by Oliver Chilton with a clear objective: to echo the depth and weight of historic Royal Navy rum, while expressing a contemporary, precise blending style. Built on the perpetual blend from the previous edition, this release incorporates carefully selected casks from Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and Grenada, with a notable emphasis on Guyana. A rare Grenada rum distilled in 1993 adds extra dimension, enhancing the blend’s rich orange oil character and lending further maturity. The result is a darker, heavier profile designed for slow, contemplative sipping.
Black Tot Rum is a modern tribute to the legendary Navy rum ration, overseen by Elixir Distillers. Drawing on historic blending traditions while embracing contemporary rum-making, Black Tot is known for its layered, robust style and meticulous cask selection. Nose: Deep and expressive, with wood smoke, espresso, cocoa powder and dried orange peel, supported by molasses and soft spice.
Palate: Full-bodied and weighty. Liquorice, muscovado sugar and dark chocolate dominate, joined by roasted coffee beans and rich oak.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering smoke, bittersweet cocoa, orange oil and a gently earthy sweetness.
