“Soldier” is a Benrinnes single malt released by Elixir Distillers as part of Act Two of the Macbeth series, an ambitious collection of forty-two whiskies inspired by the characters of Shakespeare’s tragedy. One of ten bottlings in The Household series, this expression was matured in refill (second-fill) sherry butts, allowing Benrinnes’ naturally robust spirit to take centre stage. The maturation enhances the whisky’s meaty, weighty structure while layering in notes of raisins and dried herbs, resulting in a bold and character-driven Speyside single malt that reflects the steadfast, grounded nature of its namesake.

Overlooked by many yet highly regarded among enthusiasts, Benrinnes Distillery sits at the base of Mount Ben Rinnes in Speyside, a landmark visible across much of the region. Its history has been marked by multiple reconstructions and ownership changes before gaining stability under the Distillers Company Limited in 1925. Known for its unconventional partial triple distillation and the use of traditional worm tub condensers, Benrinnes produces a bold, full-bodied spirit.
