BALLECHIN 12ans 2013 Monbazillac Cask Itinéraires

This Ballechin vintage, matured exclusively in Monbazillac wine casks, delivers a powerful yet refined peated profile. Made from malted barley peated to around 50 ppm, it rivals the smokiest Islay malts while retaining a distinctly Highland elegance. From the first sip, its multidimensional aromatic palette unfolds with remarkable smoothness, revealing generous notes of ripe fruit, honeyed sweetness and fresh herbal nuances inspired by the great sweet wines of Southwest France.

Following the acquisition of Edradour in 2002, Andrew Symington enlisted Iain Henderson, former director of Laphroaig, to create a second, heavily peated single malt: Ballechin. First released in 2006 and produced at the historic Edradour distillery—fully renovated in 2018—Ballechin is bottled as an annual vintage in limited quantities of around 6,000 bottles, distinguished by its exclusive maturation in wine casks from Burgundy, Madeira and beyond.
