Located in the east of Speyside between the River Bogie and the foothills of the Grampians, Ardmore, which means “great height” in Gaelic, produces a single malt which is much-loved by fans of peated whiskies. With its lush and oily character, this small batch wonderfully embodies the firm and unctuous style of a Highland malt that could easily pass for an Islay, more specifically for an Ardbeg or Laphroaig.

Description

Profile: complex and characterised by smoke and oily peat, the initial nose is also malty and herbaceous. Liquorice and chocolatey, once allowed to breathe it becomes exotic (pineapple) and autumnal (forest floor). The unctuous attack is vanilla and fruity (peach). Peat and smoke allow the expression of noble spices. It becomes increasingly floral. The well-balanced finish is milky (coconut, almond). Mineral (slate) and salty, it shows lots of tone. The retro-nasal olfaction is chocolatey and the empty glass lush (rosemary).
