Until 1977, Ardbeg malted its barley on-site. A very peaty malt whose DNA is found in this magnificent 30-year expression that first appeared in the late ’90s (1998 for the Maison du Whisky). An incredibly venerable expression considering the period when the whisky used in its composition was distilled. A powerful, smoky, iodine-infused malt marked by notes of spices, licorice, peat, and varnish.
