Aultmore

Located in the Speyside valley, the golden triangle of Scotch whisky, the Aultmore distillery is renowned for the quality of its single malts. History, however, has not been kind to it.

Founded in 1896, the distillery experienced rapid success, allowing its founder, Alexander Edward, to expand his ventures, including the acquisition of the Oban distillery. The bankruptcy of their main client, Pattison Ltd, significantly slowed production until the American Prohibition and the Great Depression of the 1920s dashed Edward’s hopes.

The distillery was bought by several successive groups, allowing it to withstand both World Wars. In 1970, the distillery closed for renovations and added two additional stills to double production. Owned by the Bacardi group since 1998, the Aultmore distillery has made a comeback thanks to the growing success of its single malts.
