Description
Nose: fleshy, rich. Aromas of raisin, apricot jam, quince jelly and rose petal highlight the port?s noble influence on the nose. The aroma palette then moves more into malt, pepper, precious woods (sandalwood, oak stave) and empyreumatic notes of brandied cherries.
Appearance: acajou
Palate: svelte, lively. After a tangy start (lemon), the flavour palette reveals latte coffee, praline and nuts (walnut, date). These creamy notes gradually make way for black fruits (cherry, blueberry) and tropical notes (mango, persimmon). More tertiary notes then develop (porcini mushroom, lichen).
Overall: balanced, creamy. Zan liquorice sweets, fresh ginger, cumin and salted butter caramel set the tone for the deliciously rich finish. With time, grains of malted barley flood the palate. The dried extracts from the empty glass reveal a stunning balsamic freshness, infused notes of tea and milk, and spicy cardamom.
