Description
Colour: orange-copper.
Nose: rich and deep. Intensely malty, peppery and camphorated, with a steely backbone, the nose initially expresses the full power of the spirit. With aeration, a sumptuous rancio emerges, releasing notes of orange peel, dark chocolate, dried apricot, walnut and mango, before lingering impressions of black truffle and Corinth grape appear.
Palate: lively yet smooth. Powdery (cocoa, ginger), malty and jam-like (marmalade), with spices (cinnamon) and a fine layer of salted butter caramel gradually coating the palate. The flavour profile deepens into rich sweetness while simultaneously developing a brighter edge of citrus (orange zest, mango coulis) and floral honey (lavender, heather).
Finish: dynamic and long. Echoing the malted and powdery character of the nose and palate, the finish is lifted by flavours of gentian and black liquorice. In retro-nasal olfaction, notes of precious woods, leather and nuts (chestnut) mingle with infused aromas of cardamom tea and eucalyptus.
