This Edradour 12 Year Old 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask explores the darker, more structured side of wine-cask maturation. Distilled in 2012, matured for 12 years in Cabernet Sauvignon casks and bottled at 48.2% ABV, it offers a rich, velvety mouthfeel with pronounced dark fruit depth. Blackcurrant and plum notes are complemented by gentle oak tannins and a subtle charred edge, allowing the wine influence to frame—rather than overwhelm—the robust Highland spirit. Part of a four-bottling series, this expression highlights the close and thoughtful dialogue between whisky and wine.

Founded in 1825 as Glenforres and renamed Edradour in 1837, the distillery is famed for its small-scale production and distinctive, weighty house style. Since its acquisition in 2002 by Andrew Symington, founder of Signatory Vintage, Edradour has become a pioneer in innovative wine and fortified-wine cask maturation, helping to redefine its traditional image. Under the influence of former Laphroaig director Iain Henderson, the distillery also introduced the heavily peated Ballechin range. From 2018, production expanded into a purpose-built replica distillery next door, preserving historic methods while supporting future growth. Edradour remains a benchmark for artisanal Highland whisky with a spirit of exploration.
