Caol Ila 1974 bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. The Connoisseurs Choice range is one of Gordon & MacPhail’s flagship products.
Created for the Italian collector and importer Edoardo Giaccone in the early 1970s, it became part of the regular range in 1979 and has remained so ever since, although it has evolved significantly, from black and red labels or map labels to today’s designs, including gradient labels.
The old editions were reduced to 40% and artificially colored; today, the whiskies in the range are presented in their natural color and sometimes cask strength.

Nose : Charming and fragrant. Marked by a light smoke, notes of licorice and star anise. It quickly develops into more fruity scents of strawberries, peaches, and nectarines.
Palate : Firm and concentrated with flavors of malted barley and spices. It gradually opens up to more vegetal aromas of heather. Ginger and a hint of salt.
Finish : Drying, with chocolate and honey. Hint of smoke.
