WOVEN Experience Antipodes #2

$130.00

Colour: bright gold.

Nose: creamy yet lively. Notes of grain and a delicately herbaceous peat initially occupy the heart of the aroma palette. Allowed to breathe, vanilla pod and fresh fruit (black grape, greengage plum) are placed on a bed of freshly cut grass. Gradually, aromas from a lit Havana cigar float through the air.

Palate: rich yet fluid. The refreshing attack (thyme infusion) offers a melting pot of vanilla, floral (lily), mentholated, liquorice, ashy and slightly earthy (rooty peat) flavours. On the mid-palate, notes of walnut stain and dried apricot accentuate the flavour palette’s herbaceous temperament. The end of the palate is nobly spicy (curry, cumin, clove).

Finish: long, silky. At the start of the finish, a liquorice and chocolate peat and a few grains of salt pair harmoniously with more lemony and honeyed flavours (acacia, lime blossom). The end of the finish is deeply malty, earthy, medicinal (ointment) and empyreumatic (incense, ash). On the retro-nasal olfaction, notes of smoked meat and leather add an animal dimension to the finish. The slightly reduced empty glass confirms this gamey development.

Description

This second blend produced by Woven, Experience The Avant Gardists No. 2, is also composed primarily of whiskies from Loch Lomond and Campbeltown. This version, however, gives more attention to peated expressions, notably incorporating a Knockdhu Heavily Peated 2006 (6% of the blend), which clearly displays its smoky character. With a vanilla and herbaceous nose, this blend develops more earthy, ashy, spicy and salty registers that highlight the beautiful influence of the Scottish single malts in its composition.
