WATERFORD Micro Cuvée Rue du Nil Antipodes

$169.00

Exclusive limited edition of 1,400 bottles. Born from the collaboration between the Irish distillery and the Parisian restaurant “Frenchie,” this micro-cuvée named “Rue du Nil” follows the “Voyages Extraordinaires,” the first exclusive bottling created by Waterford for a partner, which was unveiled in our creation catalog last year. Aged in three types of casks: ex-bourbon (24%), French oak (27%), and moscatel (49%), it was made 100% from biodynamically grown barley. A blend of freshness and maturity, its aromatic and gustatory palette evolves with presence throughout the tasting, on a syncopated rhythm, bringing with it sequences of fruity, herbaceous, and vanilla notes, each more exhilarating than the last.

Description

Tasting Notes

Nose
: Fresh, elegant. On the first nosing, notes of white fruits (pear, apple), aromatic herbs (sage, verbena), vanilla, and candied lemon mingle with remarkably pure malted aromas. With a natural progression, the aromatic palette gradually reveals peppery, licorice, and honeyed (acacia) notes. Then, following resolutely fruity paths, it places a basket filled with Williams pears at the forefront.

Palate : Lively, refined. Herbaceous (cut hay, straw) and milky (coconut, almond), the palate’s attack also displays spiciness (ginger, coriander) and a subtle medicinal quality (tiger balm). In continuation, the mid-palate harmoniously evokes a field of green barley. Towards the finish, flavors of yellow melon, white peach, and almond add a fruity dimension to the taste palette.

Finish : Long, subtle. At the beginning of the finish, notes of eucalyptus, rosemary, and savory emphasize the smoky and freshly herbaceous character of this Waterford. In the aftertaste, vanilla flavors (custard) prolong the tasting experience infinitely, concluding with a delightfully malty, fruity (pear, mirabelle), and floral (lily, lavender) retro-olfaction. Rich in dry extracts, the empty glass reveals notes of porridge, iris concrete, as well as red fruits (raspberry, strawberry).

Profile : Fresh and complex.
