Springbank 18 Year Old 2000 Sansibar 47,9%

Distilled in 2000, this Springbank has aged 18 years in sherry butt casks before being bottled in the The Clans series. This independent German bottler owes its name to the famous gourmet restaurant Sansibar, located on Sylt Island, for which he reserved exclusively his bottlings of Scottish whiskeys and Caribbean rums. Since 2011, the house has developed its reputation through its selections, bottled under its own labels or in joint bottlings.

Complex, exotic. Saline and smoke tip, shortbread cookie, cardamom, mango.

Founded in 1828, Springbank would later fall into the hands of the Mitchell family, who still own it to this day. Springbank is one of the last Scottish distilleries to carry out all of its production on site, from malting to bottling. Known for the extremely high quality of its sherry-influenced bottlings, a dry period in the 1980s left an indelible mark on Springbank’s stocks. Its style can therefore be easily separated into two periods: the first, with an emphasis on sherry casks, lasts up until to the 1990s, and the second, more centred on bourbon casks, begins just after the turn of the millennium.
