Tasting Notes
Nose : Bright gold.
Nose : Lively, powerful. On the first nose, a rooty and gamey peat authoritatively takes up the heart of the aroma palette. Allowed to breathe, it becomes more empyreumatic (sleet), lemony, vanilla and spicy (black pepper). Fragrances of toast, eucalyptus, incense paper and essential oils (savory, tarragon, thyme) then fill the air.
Palate : Dense and elegant. On the attack, flavours of chocolatey and oily peat softly envelop the taste buds. Characterized by an invigorating acidity, the mid-palate is lemony. During this time, bourbon vanilla has taken the place of chocolate. The same peat gradually takes on stunningly beautiful herbaceous, mentholated, iodine (sea spray), salty and ashy garbs. The end of the palate is covered in a fine layer of green liquorice and grated ginger.
Finish : Long, invigorating. At the start of the finish, tangy flavours of citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit) refresh the taste buds with perfect timing. The resinous (pine), slightly tarry, heady (lily, iris) and vegetal (reed, rush) end of the finish boasts impressive length. On the retronasal olfaction, warm cigar ash falls onto freshly cut grass. The empty glass releases intense fragrances of fermenting malted barley.
