The Macallan Replica series was launched in September 1996, with the first edition being the Macallan 1874. This version was aged in Fino sherry barrels, rather than the Oloroso barrels used for Macallan after the war. It was a limited edition release made up of nine barrels with an average age of 18 years. It has been highly sought after by collectors due to its unique style and the high quality of the Macallan brand. Since the release of the 1874, other editions in the Replica series have been released, including 1841, 1851, 1861, and 1876.

Description

Tasting Notes


Nose : Fine and creamy. Juicy citrus and exotic fruits highlight the influence of a beautiful sweet sherry. Spicy, it then reveals notes of leather and toasted nuts. Malted barley and fresh mint are in the background.

Palate : Round and velvety. Like taffeta. Caramel, incense, peach and prune provide sweetness and complexity. It evolves with dried fruits (almond) and flowers (hyacinth). Evokes a calvados (ripe apple).

Finish : Long and rich. Noble (fresh tobacco, saffron), it lingers on cedar, red fruits, cardamom and camphor.
