Founded in 1821, Linkwood did not begin producing whisky until 1825.
Located in Speyside, it remained under the ownership of the Brown family until the late 1860s, after which it was destroyed and rebuilt in 1872.
Like many distilleries, it became part of the Scottish Malt Distillers company in 1933 and played a significant role in the growth of several blends, including Johnnie Walker, White Horse, Haig, and Bell’s.
Most existing single malt versions are produced by independent bottlers, such as Gordon & MacPhail, who offer several sherry cask-aged versions, and Signatory Vintage.
An official bottling was introduced in the late 1990s: Linkwood 12-Year-Old Fauna & Flora, along with a few versions in the Rare Malts range.
