Tasting Notes
Colour : Deep golden yellow
Nose : Fresh, complex. Overflowing with ripe fruit (pear, apple, plum), a very delicate peat hovers over a first nose that is also herbaceous (cut hay), floral (lily of the valley, carnation) and vegetal (tobacco). Allowed to breathe, the fruity register is enriched with citrus fruit (lemon, grapefruit), as medicinal notes (tiger balm) and smoke rings harmoniously accompany more exotic aromas (roasted pineapple, banana). With time, it becomes increasingly honeyed.
Palate : Refined, distinguished. First, bourbon vanilla and coconut milk bring lots of creaminess to the attack. Very quickly, however, a rooty (gentian), empyreumatic (sleet) and salty peat siezes the entire palate. This is accompanied by intense smoke and flavours of smoked bacon and Guémené andouille sausage. At the end of the palate, the same fruits from the nose come to the surface of the flavour palette (pear, apple, pineapple).
Finish : Long, elegant. From the start of the finish, peat is omnipresent. With impressive power and in turn oily, fruity (pear), floral (lily), mentholated, herbaceous, vanilla, salty, spicy and camphoric, the finish adds rhythm to the tasting. Later, notes of agave and coriander bring lots of freshness to the very end of the palate, bringing relief to the extraordinary maturity of this Kornog. With lots of originality, on the retro-nasal olfaction, soot and ash further transcend the fruity (Mirabelle plum, canary melon) and milky (coconut) character. The empty glass is a perfect summary of the nose and palate.
