The Karuizawa distillery was built in 1955 in the town of the same name, in the prefecture of Nagano surrounded by the Japanese Alps. Japanese whisky generally has a very good reputation, but Karuizawa is especially sought after and appreciated by connoisseurs; it has accumulated an impressive number of medals in competitions. This Vintage 1981 is absolutely remarquable, as Vintage 1977, 1967 & 1981 bottled for La Maison du Whisky a few years ago.
