HAKUSHU 12 year old is a single malt whisky produced by the Hakushu Distillery, which is located in the Southern Japanese Alps. It was released in 1997 and has been well-received by whisky enthusiasts for its complex and subtle flavors. The whisky is aged for 12 years in oak barrels, which gives it a rich, mellow taste with notes of green apples, peat smoke, and a hint of pepper. It has been described as having a light, refreshing character with a long, clean finish.

Tasting Notes

: rich, complex. Full of nobility, its notes of apricot, raspberry and nutmeg compose a spirited symphony. Heady (lily, peony, honeysuckle), it develops into orange liqueur and macadamia nuts.

Palate : with an original elegance, the fine bitterness of the chocolate powder and the pumpkin give it a lot of sweetness. It develops on candied citrus fruits (orange, lemon) sprinkled with sweet spices. Evokes a slightly burnt apricot tart. Fresh note of basil.

Finish : long, finely woody. It brings us back to the Christmas holiday season with its notes of fir, mountain honey and candied chestnut. Minty, it lingers on salted butter caramel.
