On February 3, 1940, in a remote corner of northern Scotland, George Urquhart and his father John decided to set aside a whisky from the Glenlivet distillery that had just been filled into casks, in order to keep it for future generations. They were both convinced that each whisky should be kept in maturation until the cask and the spirit merged, in order to obtain optimal quality. After 80 years spent in the cellars of Gordon & MacPhail, this single malt is a true piece of history and one of the oldest whiskies ever bottled. With a strength of 44.9% and a silky and oily touch, this liquid treasure has retained all its aromatic power. Marked by fruity aromas (dates, figs), it reveals elegant notes of Oloroso Sherry, before becoming subtly mentholated.
