Description
Colour: burnished gold with copper tinges.
Nose: complex, deep. On the first nose, beautiful floral notes (rese- da, petunia) appear alongside marmalade and candied citrus fruit (lemon, orange). Allowed to breathe, spices (cinnamon, ginger) create a very dynamic transition. Increasingly heady, the nose gra- dually becomes intensely malty and chocolatey. Next, with dried banana and candied mango, and rose jam and apricot stone, the aromatic palette weaves between exoticism and classicism.
Palate: clean, precise. With a remarkably pure expression, the at- tack is honeyed (acacia), fruity (Mirabelle plum, apple) and vanilla. On the mid-palate, a fine film of green liquorice and vanilla pod coats the taste buds. The very slender flavour palette develops roasted (coffee, praline) and forest floor (porcini, sweet chestnut) notes. The very fresh end of the palate focuses on lots of aromatic plants (bay leaf, chamomile, sage) and heady florals (broom, iris).
Finish: long, remarkably well-balanced. A perfect summary of the nose and palate, the start of the finish is vanilla, praline, floral, fruity and exotic. Deliciously mentholated, it then becomes increa- singly herbal (cardamom tea, cappuccino), as herbaceous notes (bamboo, rush) weave together a very natural vegetal frame. On the retro-nasal olfaction, date and sweet chestnut are placed deli- cately upon this herbaceous bed. The divinely malty dried extracts escaping from the empty glass act as one with the end of the palate, creating perfect unity of tone.
