Description
Tasting Notes
Colour : Copper orange.
Nose : Rich, balanced. A blend of candied lemon, earthy peat, and candied fruits (orange, apricot) creates a deeply profound initial aroma. Extremely saline and iodine-rich, the aromatic palette gradually evolves towards floral notes (lavender, lilac) and superb maltiness. The peat continues to hover over the aromatic profile, which extends into medicinal (balm), spicy (paprika), and exotic (mango, guava) realms.
Palate : Lively, precise. Full of energy, the palate opens with mineral (slate), tar-like, oily, rooty (gentian), and slightly earthy flavors. Mid-palate, precious wood, mocha, candied apricot, and malted barley flavors compete in intensity. In the back palate, a delicate layer of caramel and ripe mango delicately enrobe the taste buds. Remarkably fresh with a touch of menthol, the flavor profile extends indefinitely.
Finish : Long, velvety. With a wonderfully soft touch, the start of the finish is deeply malty. Then, notes of dill, cardamom, and licorice stick bring nobility to a finish that retains some peaty accents. Very long and linear, it reveals flavors of gingerbread, raisin cake, and toasted bread. In retro-olfaction, cloves, curry, chestnuts, and lichen beautifully punctuate the tasting experience. The empty glass carries hints of burnt wood and incense.
Profile : Peaty, balanced.
