Description
Colour: mahogany.
Nose: rich, concentrated. On the first nose, aromas of emery cloth, blood orange, chocolate, caramel, apricot, crme brle, grilled walnut and rhubarb tart reveal the aroma palettes extreme complexity and depth. These are accompanied by an omnipresent salinity. Allowed to breathe, fig, date, exotic fruits (mango, guava), medicinal (iodine tincture) and very finely woody notes (sandalwood, bramble bush) appear alongside black fruits (blackcurrants, blueberry). Outstanding!
Palate: at once lively and mellow. On the attack, malted barley skilfully plays the lead role. Red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) take the place of the black fruits. The mid-palate is creamy (salted butter caramel) and slightly tannic (raisin, date, dark chocolate). At the end of the palate, lime blossom and lavender honeys, heady florals (carnation, hyacinth, rose) and very ripe fruits (banana, quince, orange, melon) bring lots of the class to the flavour palette.
Finish: long, silky. At the start of the finish, malted barley and sherry launch into a Homeric duel. These two protagonists are brought together by a collision of porridge and Lige coffee flavours. The fleshy finish wavers between notes of coconut milk, marmalade, reseda, cardamom and lime blossom. For its part, the retro-nasal olfaction clearly takes us into malted territory. The empty glass focuses on a stunning rancio (cherries in brandy), camphor and precious wood.
