CHRISTIAN DROUIN 1974 Pays d Auge

$675.00

The least that can be said is that this venerable calvados fully benefits from its age.

This is first manifested in a gentle eccentricity that distances it from its homeland to explore unusual olfactory and gustatory territories that are varnished and smoky.

Additionally, it proudly displays its Norman origins with apple notes that are expressed with a capital A.

Tasting Notes

Nose
: Supremely elegant. A fine note of varnish sets the tone. It then gives way to notes of apple, lemon candy, and licorice. Emery cloth and white flowers (lilac, lily of the valley) add maturity and originality.

Palate : Tender and original. Bursting with fruit, its attack shows a smoky and chocolaty exuberance. In the mid-palate, the apple comes out of its shell to mingle with other fresh fruits (mirabelle plum, greengage) and even exotic fruits (lychee, kiwi).

Finish : Long and complex. Notes of tobacco, licorice, and chocolate coexist with wildflowers and mild spices (cinnamon, coriander). It gradually regains fruity tones (red apple). The aftertaste is licorice, and the empty glass has empyreumatic notes (linden, eucalyptus).
