Colour: mahogany.

Nose: rich, unctuous. On the first nose, blood orange, ripe strawberry and exotic fruit (mango, roasted pineapple) appear alongside slightly caramelised vanilla fragrances. Right at this moment, it is impossible not to think of a delicious crème brûlée. Allowed to breathe, notes of camphor, sandalwood, papier d’Arménie and incense envelop the aroma palette’s first fruity sequence. This is then refreshed by the presence of infused bay leaf.

Palate: lively, stout. Tracing a vanilla and spicy (nutmeg) line right to the bottom of the palate, the attack is also honeyed (heather), hot (Cayenne pepper) and floral (rosewood). The praline mid-palate is gradually seeped in heady (iris butter, gillyflower) and empyreumatic (burnt sugar cane) flavours. The unctuous end of the palate invites us to enjoy a vanilla flan or rum baba.

Finish: tangy yet silky. A subtle combination of bitter orange and molasses, the start of the finish is characterised by notes of liquorice and grated ginger. The end of the finish, for its part, focuses on a beautiful decomposing wood. Incense and patchouli notes fragrance a stunningly mature retro-nasal olfaction. The empty glass wavers between the scents of bitter orange, honeysuckle and liquorice.
