This very rare bottling of Bowmore was bottled in 1979 in celebration of the distillery’s 200th anniversary.

Regarded by some experts as one of the best Bowmore malts ever, it contains a vatting of whisky from ten different years between 1950 and 1966 – with the majority maturing in sherry casks – and is one of 24,000 bottles that were released for the momentous occasion.

The bottle bearing the Morrison clan coat of arms is a replica of a hand blown decanter and was filled in the distillery early 1979; scored a whopping 96 points on Whiskyfun by Serge, it comes with its original packaging in pristine condition.

THE BRAND Bowmore, founded in 1779 in the town of the same name on the Loch Indaal coast, is the oldest distillery on the Isle of Islay. The No.1 Vaults has played a major role in building its renown, not simply because of the quality of the casks it holds, but also because of its exceptional location. It is actually located below sea level, with the seawall acting as the one of the walls of the vault. The distillery is also famous for its medium-peated bottlings and the special cask finishes that have won it huge acclaim. Still operating according to traditional methods, its barley is partially malted on site.
