A single Refill Sherry cask from Bowmore, distilled in 2003, and spent more than a year out of the wood before being placed back into a second-fill Sherry cask. It was 18 years old at the time of bottling at cask strength. This is the same cask as the Bowmore 17-year-old bottled in Whisky Sponge Edition No. 50, except this time it benefited from an additional year of aging and, being the last cask from this parcel, it was bottled at natural cask strength. This cask is not as heavily influenced by Sherry as its sibling. It’s a more exuberant, modern Bowmore with fruity notes and beautiful hints of mild, dry peat smoke. There’s a great coastal freshness and a mineral character, along with lighter notes of leather, tar, and eucalyptus due to the Sherry influence. Gorgeous, powerful, finely crafted, and complex.
