BENROMACH 10 ans 2011 Conquête

$188.00

Benromach is a delicately smoked whisky that originated in the Speyside region in the 1960s. Its four distillers personally oversee every second of the distillation process using high quality, 100% Scottish ingredients. Each barrel is filled, weighed and stamped by hand and is intended to age for many years in their traditional warehouses. Benromach stands out for its unique aging processes and dynamic image, perfectly combining tradition and modernity.

This version is very “Benromach” and is a tribute to lightly peated malt barley. Precise, it shows that simplicity often goes hand in hand with excellence. However, do not be fooled because behind an easily accessible facade that demands admiration, there is actually a very rich aromatic and gustatory complexity. So it is proudly rooted in the soil that gave it birth that it raises the colors of the Speyside high.

Tasting Notes

Color : Deep gold

Nose : Subtle, pulpy. Sublime scents of malt barley and fireplace fire on the verge of extinguishing dominate a first nose that is otherwise gluttonous (vanilla), meaty and fruity (Reinette apple). When aerated, it becomes floral (daffodil, cornflower), mineral (slate), rustic and slightly medicinal. Some candied fruits (grapefruit, lemon) and acacia honey complete this aromatic table dominated by the yellow color.

Palate : lively, firm. Both fruity (mirabelle plum, pear), spicy and medicinal (balm), the attack on the palate is deeply herbaceous and malty. To such an extent that the mid-palate propels us in the middle of a green barley field. Very pleasantly salty, the very end of the palate is also delightfully liqueur-like (vanilla, pineapple, lavender honey) and spicy (cardamom).

Finish : Long, tonic. Vegetable (fresh mint), the beginning of the finish is also heady (iris concrete), mineral (clay, limestone) and vinous (black grape), highlighting the very beautiful influence of aging in a sherry barrel. In retro-olfaction, scents of verbena, lavender and black fruits (blueberry, blackberry) permeate the ambient atmosphere. The empty glass is undoubtedly malty, herbaceous and slightly meaty.
