Ben Nevis distillery was founded in 1825 and became the property of the Japanese group Nikka in 1989. Located on the mainland coast of Western Scotland, in the shadow of the highest mountain in Britain from which it takes its name, Ben Nevis is known for its aging in old sherry barrels. In recent years, Ben Nevis distillery seemed somewhat dormant, as if fallen into a sweet torpor, but it had not said its last word. It was in 2012 that the awakening occurred with the arrival of the intensely peated Ben Nevis Traditional. The distillery still hides beauties that are waiting to awaken…
Located on the slopes of the highest mountain in Scotland, Ben Nevis distillery was founded in 1825 by John MacDonald. It produces a powerful single malt, characterized by spices, cereals, and fruit. This 8 year 2010 S.V Ben Nevis has a very fruity profile and is not heavily influenced by its aging in second-fill sherry barrels. The Un-Chillfiltered Collection range allows drinkers to discover non-chillfiltered single malts for a more authentic tasting experience. Like cognacs, armagnacs, and other fine spirits, most whiskies are now often chillfiltered. These rich, aromatic, and oily whiskies are bottled from a small batch of two to five barrels before being reduced to 46%.
