Founded in 1948 in Bangalore, South India, Amrut, famous for its single malt, has also been producing rum for over 60 years. It was during a trip to the distillery that La Maison & Velier discovered a particular type of rum made from jaggery, a solidified unrefined sugar, diluted before fermentation and then distilled. It is a very traditional production at Amrut, made only once a year and in modest quantities. It is the first and only distillery to obtain a specific license to produce this type of rum.
This Single Cask #225, made entirely from jaggery and distilled in a pot still, is bottled at 62,8% and is aged for 7 years in ex-bourbon casks in India. It was specifically selected by La Maison du Whisky for Whisky Live Singapore.

Profile : Complex and intense.
Nose : Rich and concentrated. Bitter oranges, beeswax, fresh apricot, lavender, cumin, vanila and cane sugar.
Palate : Lively and exotic. Cocoa bean, eucalyptus, mango, toffee, black liquorice and flambéed banana
Finish : Long and luscious. Orange, cinnamon, caramel, tar, rose, fig and peach jams, cardamon and coffee.
